3 Million Euro Digitalization Project Accessed by Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub
Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub, an innovation center developed by the Consortium of Clusters of Northern Transylvania, aims to launch the online platform Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub , a data center and an online platform for monitoring public policies, by applying within the digitization project "RIS3 - for less developed regions ”, open to the North-West region.
Founded in 2017, Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub is the first operational digitalization hub in Romania, recognized in 2019 as "Fully Operational DIH" by the European Commission JRC. Also last year, Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub was a finalist in the DIH Champions competition in Madrid. Among the most important projects of Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub are IHL square and BOWI, with objectives such as digital transformation and cooperation of European IHLs. Other Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub projects are Transilvania Digital Inovativa, Reflow, Cluj: Future of work or SPIRE Baia Mare. Basically, the objective of Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub is to help companies and public authorities, members of the ecosystem to go through the digitalization process and to align themselves with European institutions and large companies.
The application to the RIS3 project is an important new step made by Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub for digitization, which completes the range of services that were previously found in the innovation hub.
The application is worth over 14,500,000 lei (over 3,000,000 euros) of which 11,600,000 lei are non-reimbursable funds and the rest own contribution, and if the application will be won, the project will be implemented over a period of 3 years.
The final objectives of the project are the creation of an online platform Digital Innovation Hub Transilvania, a Data Center, but also a platform for monitoring public policies.
Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub Platform - online platform with a role in bringing together business sectors. Each project partner, as well as members of the clusters will develop specialized niche services for companies, but also for public authorities, which will be part of this platform. This will strengthen the regional innovation ecosystem.
Data center - created for the launch on the market and operation of the online platform Transilvania DIH - workspace 3.
Public policy monitoring platform - a tool for monitoring alternative public policy proposals in the areas of regional smart specialization from the business environment.
Bianca Muntean, manager of Transilvania IT Cluster: “It is an important step for Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub, through which we want to bring new services meant to help SMEs in our region but also public authorities, and these services will be available on the Digital platform Innovation Hub Transilvania. It will be an involvement from all Transilvania DIH members and we believe that it is an important step for the digitalization for which we have been militating since the creation of Transilvania DIH, in 2017 ”
Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub aims to be part of the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs in the future.
The call for projects was opened in April for the NORTHWEST DEVELOPMENT REGION region, which is one of the least developed regions in the European Union, with GDP / capita in the PPP representing 47% of the European average.
"RIS3 for Less Developed Regions" is implemented by the European Commission's Joint Research Center (JRC), under the coordination of DG Regio and Urban Policy and with the financial support of the European Parliament.
